American Energy Alliance Names Sherrod Brown “Energy Loser”

WASHINGTON DC (10/19/26) – The American Energy Alliance (AEA), the country’s premier pro-consumer, pro-taxpayer, and free-market energy organization, released its annual Congressional Scorecard. The AEA scorecard scores voting and co-sponsorship decisions on legislation affecting energy and environmental policy, educates voters on how their senators vote, and holds members accountable for those decisions.

During his almost two decades in the Senate, Sherrod Brown earned a dismal 2% lifetime score on the American Energy Scorecard.

American Energy Alliance President Thomas Pyle issued the following statement:

“During his time serving the people of Ohio, Sherrod Brown repeatedly and deliberately voted against the very measures that would make life easier and more affordable for his constituents. Now, after voters have already told him they’d had enough, he’s hoping the high prices he helped create will send him back to Congress.

“Ohio families are paying the price for Brown’s anti-consumer, anti-energy voting record, when what they deserve is energy that is affordable, reliable, and accessible. In stark contrast to Brown’s record, Senator John Husted has a perfect 100% voting record, ensuring energy that keeps costs down and lights on for American families. When it comes to energy affordability, Ohioans have a clear choice on November 3rd.”

Core Principles of the American Energy Scorecard:

  • Promoting affordable, abundant, and reliable energy.
  • Expanding economic opportunity and prosperity, particularly for working families and those on fixed incomes.
  • Empowering Americans to make their own energy choices, free from bureaucratic constraints.
  • Encouraging private sector innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Advancing market-oriented energy and environmental policies.
  • Reducing government interference in energy markets.
  • Eliminating subsidies, mandates, and special interest giveaways that drive up energy costs.
